When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, jockey P. Hammersley stated that the gelding was not suited by the steady tempo in the middle stages and as a result was unable to quicken over the concluding stages and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings other than that the gelding had lost the near fore plate in running.

Byrne expressed his disappointment in the performance and the only explanation he could offer was that the mare, in his opinion, raced flat and did not feel entirely comfortably in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Stewards will follow up with the stable regarding the horse’s post-race recovery.
