Approaching the 900m commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from the heels of APITHANOS. Approaching the 450m was carried wider by APITHANOS which shifted out to improve. Laid in in the home straight and had to be straightened by its rider on a number of occasions.

Near the 200m, carried in marginally by CELTIC TIGER which was laying in resulting in its hindquarters being bumped and turned inwards.

Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SUPER BAZOOKA. Held up from the 300m until the 200m. Near the 200m, tightened between OUR ROCKY, which laid out under pressure, and APITHANOS, which had been carried in marginally by CELTIC TIGER, which was laying in and, as a result, INCORRUPTBILITY had to be checked by its rider.

Near the 200m, shifted out whilst laying out and made contact with INCORRUPTIBLITY resulting in OUR ROCKY being bumped on the hindquarters and turned outwards. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its off fore leg. Trainer D. Pearson was advised that OUR ROCKY will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
