Raced 3 wide throughout without cover. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, jockey C. McIver explained that even though he was forced to race 3 wide he was comfortable in that position and travelled reasonably until a point passing the 700m, however when asked for an effort failed to respond and tired over the concluding stages. Stewards noted the explanation. Raced 3 wide throughout without cover.

After beginning from a wide gate was restrained to take up a position at the rear of the field. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, jockey A. Badger advised that her instructions were to settle back in the field from the wide gate and at a point passing the 600m commence to improve into the race. She added that the gelding travelled on and off the bridle for the majority of the event and changed stride on several occasions, and when placed under pressure passing the 600m failed to respond to her riding.
