When questioned Jockey reported that, after being crowded for room at the start, his mount never responded to his vigorous urgings throughout the early and middle stages, and when he felt that something may have been amiss with the mare he restrained it out of the race. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer was told that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced and that the mare must perform competitively in a trial before being permitted to race again.
