Caught wide without cover in the early and middle stages. On returning to scale the gelding was found to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer was told that, as this was the first time the horse had bled, it will be barred from racing for 3 months under A.R. 53A(4), and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres in the presence of a steward.

When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice said that she had planned to take up a more prominent position in running, but when unable to do so the gelding had commenced to over-race when in restricted room between runners near the 1300 metres. She added that she was also held up for a short distance on straightening.
