Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice explained the gelding travelled well until the 800 metres and then commenced to lay out from that point onwards, and was disappointing over the concluding stages. Trainer stated gelding had worked well leading into today’s event and was at a loss to explain the performance. She added she would monitor the geldings progress and advise stewards if anything should come to her attention that may have affected the horse's performance.
