Richardson reported that her mount failed to stretch out in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. When questioned, trainer Mr T. Cook stated that UMBERTO had pleased in its work leading up to today’s event and it was his intention to continue with its preparation. Stewards advised Mr Cook that due to the disappointing performance, UMBERTO would require a veterinary clearance prior to a future race
