Inclined to hang in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey S Cormack reported that TITANIUM was making an abnormal breathing sound upon pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

When questioned regarding the performance, jockey J Orman stated that his mount travelled well during the event, however when placed under pressure, CHIEF MONDO failed to respond and as a result he elected not to place his mount under any more pressure.
