Hung out under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in leading today, jockey D. Griffin stated that it was his intention to obtain a handy position with cover, however with the removal of the blinkers today the horse raced keenly in the early stages and obtained the lead of its own accord.

Connections advised that the horse would be ridden further back in the field. Ridden accordingly. Overraced when being restrained in the early stages to secure a position closer to the fence at the rear of the field and then had to be steadied near the 1200m.J. Oliver stated that the gelding’s racing manners in the early stages had a detrimental effect on its overall performance. Trainer W. Hulbert stated that the gelding had come to the end of its current preparation and would now be sent for a spell. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
