B. Pengelly was asked to comment on the horse’s performance. He indicated that after travelling well, the horse did not let down as he had anticipated. He added that the horse’s breathing was somewhat unusual during the event and he was disappointed with the way in which the horse found the line. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer B. Lockwood advised that in light of jockey Pengelly’s comments he would add a tongue tie to the horse’s gear and he was of the view that a step up in distance would be beneficial for the horse.
