Stewards questioned apprentice M. Murphy regarding his riding between the 900m and 450m when it appeared he lost ground away from RISING LUCK during that section of the race and appeared to show no vigour in order to hold his position. Apprentice Murphy indicated he was trying to hold the horse up for a final sprint home however the horse failed to respond when pressured from the 450m. Stewards advised apprentice Murphy that given he had commenced to lose ground he would have been expected to pressure the horse earlier than he did, and were of the view he had erred.
