Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Stewards questioned apprentice M. Murphy and G. Colless regarding the pace set in the first 1000m. Apprentice Murphy indicated that he had been instructed to lead and after taking up a leading position he steadied his mount and this allowed ZARABEEL (G. Colless) to improve forward of him and establish the lead. He indicated that he had not wished his mount to be held up behind other runners and therefore he elected to shift wider passing the 1000m and settle outside the lead.
