Examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers at the request of its rider and was subsequently cleared to start. Jockey M. Hellyer reported at scale that due to HE’LL BE RIGHT racing fiercely outside his mount this caused his horse to overrace, and as a result had a detrimental effect on the gelding’s performance.

Jockey J. Missen reported that his mount was inclined to hang in throughout, proving difficult to ride in the early stages. He added that as a result he eased the horse out of the race near the 400m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer G. Hardy reported that it was now his intention to retire the gelding, however was advised that the horse would be required to trial prior to its next race start should circumstances change.
