The start of this race was delayed when the horse lost its near hind plate after leaving the enclosure, and after attempting to reattach the plate, the decision was made, after consultation with trainer K. Walker, to allow the horse to race bare foot behind as the farrier was unable to reattach the plate due to the horse being fractious. Raced with its head in the air when being restrained in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn and obliged to alter course shortly after entering the home straight to secure clear running.

Jockey M. Cahill reported his disappointment with the horse’s performance and attributed this to his mount racing too keenly in front and therefore not running out a strong 1600m. He indicated he recommended to connections to drop the mare back in distance and attempt to secure cover as he felt it would settle if given that opportunity. A post race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress.
