He indicated that after beginning fairly he had been instructed to obtain a position in the forward half of the field. Examined by the veterinary surgeon at the request of its rider and cleared to take its place in the field. Failed to finish the race and pulled up lame in the off fore leg. Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed a bowed tendon. Trainer indicated that the horse will now be retired. Connections were nevertheless advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided and the mare must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
