Apprentice A. Sewell was asked to explain the tactics he adopted in the early stages when he attempted to restrain his mount when overracing outside the lead. He was asked why he did not permit his mount to stride forward to cross SAINT PATRICKS DAY. He indicated that whilst the horse has led previously, he had been instructed, in today’s race to attempt to obtain cover as it was having its first start over 1400m. He indicated with hindsight the manner in which the horse was overracing did have an effect on the overall performance when he may have been better served allowing the gelding
