Obliged to race in restricted room passing the 900m. When asked to comment on the positioning of his mount, which raced in a more forward position in today’s event, jockey M. McGillivray stated that it had not been his intention to necessarily race behind the lead, however from barrier one the horse began very well and raced keenly in the early stages. He attributed this to the trainer having removed the earmuffs from the horse’s gear.

Hellyer reported the horse failed to travel at any stage of the event and, in his opinion, may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer S. O’Dea agreed with jockey Hellyer’s comments and indicated the horse would now be sent for a spell. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
