Overraced in the early stages when attempting to secure clear running, and then when the pace slackened approaching the 1000m had to be checked from heels. Blundered approaching the 500m. Stewards asked apprentice J. Murphy to comment on the performance of the gelding. He stated he had been instructed to obtain cover and when attempting to do so in the early stages the horse raced very ungenerously and overraced. Trainer S. Kendrick was reprimanded for presenting the horse with incorrect gear. Jockey L. Tarrant reported his mount travelled well until the home turn and was very disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight. Trainer S. Kendrick confirmed his disappointment in the performance, and indicated he would have an endoscopic examination performed in the coming days the results of which he would report back to stewards.
