Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Trainer L. Ross was questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance. He indicated, in his opinion, the horse raced better on today’s firmer surface, and whilst he had expected a forward showing, was a little surprised with the win. He also added that the step up in distance to 1400m and being able to obtain an easy lead had assisted the horse’s performance, along with dropping to 51 kilograms with the claim of apprentice Tomlinson. Stewards noted the explanation.
