Stewards questioned trainer D. Hansen regarding the improved performance. He indicated due to the horse having a lengthy spell in order to undergo throat surgery, the horse had returned at its first start at the Gold Coast on 28 September and had weakened over the concluding stages, and with hindsight was of the view that this was as a result of the horse having its first-up run over 1400m. He indicated the improved performance was as a result of taking a fitness benefit from that run.
