As the gelding had not raced since July 2019, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was cleared to start. When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted apprentice S Tomlinson stated that when unable to lead and cross down to the rail he was reluctant to over pressure the gelding as he was mindful that it had not started for an extended period. Stewards noted his comments.

Slow to begin. When questioned in relation its performance, trainer D Hansen explained that the gelding may not have ran out a strong 1600m and where possible he would elect to drop it back to more suitable distance. A post-race swab was taken for analysis.
