Began awkwardly making heavy contact with the barrier partition. J Byrne reported that his mount travelled strongly throughout, despite settling further back in the field than he would have liked, however when asked to improve from the 500m the gelding failed to respond. Post race vet examination found the horse to have a poor post race recovery and was found to be making an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer T Gollan advised stewards that an endoscopic examination would be performed on the horse and he will report the findings to stewards.
