When questioned regarding performance, jockey M Du Plessis reported that the gelding overraced and proved difficult to settle which placed his mount in a tight position near the 600m and caused him to steady further. He added that his mount would derive benefit from the run and he would be recommending to connections to remove the blinkers. Trainer K Fogden was advised that a warning would be placed on the manners of BARONIAL.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of heat stress. Trainer L Ross was advised that STATUTES would be required to officially barrier trial prior to its next start.
