When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, Jockey explained that he had to make some use of his mount in the early stages to take up a leading position, in accordance with its established racing pattern, however when another runner improved to his inside he was left racing one off the running rail. He said that even allowing for this, his mount was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. Trainer undertook to report back in the days subsequent.
