When questioned regarding the filly leading today, Jockey said that he had been instructed to ride the filly back in the field. However, from the wide gate when inside runners did not show the anticipated early pace he rode his mount along, crossed to the lead and allowed it to stride forward where the filly travelled comfortably. Jockey concurred with stewards that he should have made a greater effort to restrain his mount in the early stages in an attempt to comply with his instructions.
