On straightening at the 400 metres Palencia was disappointed for a narrow run which momentarily existed between the leader Bold Kingston and Hit Snooze which had shifted out marginally. Hit Snooze then shifted in under hard riding and closed this run. Simultaneously Family Star which was racing outside of Hit Snooze also hung in at that point. Consequently, Palencia was then unable to secure clear running in the straight.
