When questioned regarding the horse’s poor performance, P. Romeo advised that after beginning well he settled in a rearward position as per the horse’s customary racing pattern and the pre-race instructions from trainer M. Nolan. He added that the gelding travelled well throughout the event, however was positioned some distance from the leader and therefore he elected to improve into the race from the 700m, however the gelding, in his opinion, ran on only fairly over the concluding stages and was somewhat disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
