When questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding from its most recent start, Trainer B. Currie advised that the horse was not suited to the firm track conditions at Warwick at its last start. He added that the horse, which is a Class 2 runner, was beaten by an established open class horse, and for that reason he was not entirely disappointed with that performance. Mr Currie also advised that, prior to its most recent start, the gelding’s form was sound and he therefore expected a forward showing in tonight’s event.

On return to scale jockey K. Yoshida reported that, after beginning reasonably, the mare obtained a midfield position and travelled comfortably throughout the event, however when placed under pressure, his mount failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have sustained abrasions to both hind bumpers.

Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. On return to scale jockey Beau Appo could offer no explanation for the gelding’s poor performance today. Trainer’s representative, Mr L. Hatch, could also offer no explanation for the performance however, based on the run tonight, the stable will now reconsider the gelding’s racing future. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be coughing, however no apparent abnormalities were identified.
