Proved somewhat difficult to load and then became fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey B. Pengelly could offer no explanation for the poor performance of the gelding which, in his opinion, failed to quicken from the 600m. Trainer L. Hatch advised that in light of the poor performance the gelding will now be sent for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
