Slow to begin. Apprentice N. Fazackerley could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance of the gelding which he reported raced flat today. He advised that, in his opinion, the gelding is coming to the end of its preparation. Following the race, trainer D. Groves advised that the gelding has come to the end of its preparation and will be sent for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its near fore leg. Mr. Groves was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing. A post-race swab sample was taken
