Following the race, trainer M. Currie reported that the gelding had bled from one nostril, which was subsequently confirmed by the veterinary surgeon. Mr. Currie advised that it is now his intention for the gelding to be retired. Nevertheless, Mr. Currie was advised that should the gelding return to racing it would be required to perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of Stewards.

When questioned by Stewards in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance, jockey J. Bayliss advised that the mare enjoyed a comfortable lead without being overly pressured throughout, however when asked to quicken from the 400m, it failed to respond to his riding and proved very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer R. Lipp advised that in light of today’s performance, the mare will now be retired.
