When questioned by Stewards in relation to the seemingly improved performance, trainer K. Baumann advised that, at its most recent start at Warwick, the gelding had been forced wide and had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight. He added that prior to this, the gelding was not suited by racing on the tight turning track at Gatton. He went on to say that as the gelding was stepping up in distance in this event, he had expected an improved performance, however he was somewhat surprised that it was able to be successful today.
