When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance, Trainer J Hanna stated the gelding was disappointing two starts previously at Toowoomba on 16th October, however improved at its most recent start at Clifton on 23rd October and a forward showing was expected in today’s event.

When asked to comment on tactics adopted apprentice J Cornish explained instructions were to allow the horse to stride if able to obtain the leading position and that in the middle stages BANGERS AND MAYO was inclined to over-race when leading. She added the gelding was second up today after a freshen up and would derive fitness benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
