Began awkwardly and made contact with HARLEY HOG, then a short distance later had to be steadied when tightened for room. When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, Ms C. Schmidt stated that it was her intention to take up a forward position, however after being tightened for room at the start she was obliged to settle further back than anticipated. She added that this had a detrimental effect on the chances of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
