Cahill stated that he was instructed to occupy a forward trailing position, however, approaching the 700m was inconvenienced by the tiring LAST CIGAR, which resulted in the gelding losing its position. Jockey Cahill was then obliged to steady and shift wider on the course in the run to the finish. Stewards noted his comments.
