When questioned regarding the horse’s improved performance, trainer L. Richardson explained that at the mare’s last start she was obliged, from the wide barrier, to settle further back than anticipated and was then able to finish the race off well. He added that today the mare was able to find a more prominent position and in his opinion the step up in distance to 1400m, combined with racing at its home training track, all contributed to today’s performance.
