When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding Jockey explained that after being buffeted between runners at the start, his mount never travelled comfortably at any stage, and further, that shortly after straightening, when crowded by another runner, his mount failed to respond at this point and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
