When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, J. Byrne explained that RIDGWAY only travelled fairly and although it raced in restricted room rounding the home turn, the horse did not quicken as he expected, which he felt could be attributed to the horse not being entirely comfortable on the rain-affected track.
