When questioned regarding the performance, jockey M Rodd stated that VIOLET never felt comfortable throughout the event and failed to respond to his urgings. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near fore and displaying soreness in the knee. Trainer M Nolan was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior to the filly starting or trialling again.
