When questioned as to the tempo that was set whilst leading - rider stated instructed to ride vigorously in ealy stages to obtain lead. Having ridden the gelding trackwork she was reluctant to overly restrain it, once obtaining the lead, as she was concerned that it would drop the bit and then fail to respond when placed under pressure later in the event. Stewards advised App Payne that once obtaining the lead near the 1000m she should have made a greater effort to restrian the gelding so as to give it every opportunity to finsih off the race to the best of its ability.
