Near 1000m steadied when tightened for room. When questioned re tactics jockey stated given similar instructions to previous start, which were to try and obtain a handy position. Jockey added at previous start unable to muster early speed despite his efforts and as a result settled further back than expected. Further added with step up in distance today was again obliged to ride vigorously in the early stages however, was able to muster equired speed which resulted in him being able to settle closer to the speed today.

Questioned re performance - jockey noted gelding stepping up in distance and had been instructed to settle it in second half of field to ensure it ran out the 1400m. Jockey stated gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages but failed to improve when placed under pressure passing the 500m and in his opinion was disappointing. Vetted - lame behind.
