Held up for clear running over concluding stages. Questioned as to the performance, App. M Murphy stated after obtaining his intended position behind the leader in the early stages, the gelding failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure passing the 500m and proved disappointing. Trainer G Shaw was of a similar opinion and indicated the gelding would now be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination. A swab sample was taken.
