Difficult to load. When questioned as to the performance Jockey L Rolls stated that he anticipated settling in a handy position with cover however the gelding raced keenly in the early and middle stages which resulted in him settling closer to the speed than he would have liked. Jockey Rolls added that the gelding failed to respond to his riding over the final 400m and in his opinion was disappointing. A swab sample was taken. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg.
