Rider reported instructions were to take up a handy position with cover and as a consequence allowed KOOKIECUTTER to cross forward to the lead leaving 900m. Added being first up today connections were reluctant to lead in todays race.

Rider questioned re performance - stated gelding slow to begin and then slow to muster speed in early stages. Noted displayed a similar tendency in early stages of most recent start at Doomben. Added gelding then travelled comfortably during middle stages but disappointed in failure to finish race off as expected after obtaining clear running to outside of small field on straightening. Trainer may trial gelding prior to next start otherwise felt distance and conditions not suitable. Vetted - no abnormalities - routine swab sample.
