When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Trainer L Wheeler explained that the gelding was 3rd run in from a spell today and presented as a much fitter horse for todays event and with the step up in journey and being able to obtain a soft lead, felt that this aided the chances of the gelding winning. He further added that he was of the opinion that the gelding would be competitive in todays event.

After beginning only fairly, the filly was restrained towards the rear on the rail to obtain cover and then when the pace steadied passing the 1100m, commenced to over-race and got its head up on a number of occasions when being restrained from heels. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
