When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, Trainer A Coome explained that the gelding has only recently been transferred into his stable and was having its second start for him today. He added that he was not overly confident of the geldings winning chances today but he has been pleased with the geldings track work leading into todays event. Stewards noted his comments.

Approaching the 600m had to be restrained after improving onto heels. Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Near the 100m had to be steadied when tightened for room between KATY BOOM and STEELZ TIME both of which shifted ground marginally.

Questd re tactics which firmed in betting market, reasons for settling closer on speed than at recent starts. Jockeys instructions to be positive out of barriers attempt to obtain forward position. After doing so, mare travelled well. Over concluding stages failed to finish race off. Trainer confirmed instructions. Noted mare has received interference at start of last 2 races and settled further back than anticipated. Mare always shown good early barrier speed. Has issued similar instructions previously. Advised Mr Tyrrell in future expected to inform stewards of any change of tactics.

Began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with MONTE SANTO. Stewards sought an explanation for the disappointing performance from Jockey A Allen who stated the mare failed to travel comfortably and was inclined to roll in and away from other runners and when placed under pressure in home straight, failed to respond to his riding. In his opinion the mare may have come to the end of current preparation. Post race vet exam, no abnormalities. Trainer advised mare to be sent for spell.
