On returning to scale, jockey M Harley reported that the gelding was inclined to lay in from the 600m and when placed under pressure, failed to run on as he had expected and in his opinion was disappointing. As the veterinary surgeon was required to attend to an injured horse, a veterinary examination was unable to be carried out, however stewards will follow up with trainer L Mayfield-Smith in the days following today’s event in relation to the gelding’s post-race recovery.
