Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. When asked to explain the tactics adopted and the performance of the gelding, apprentice N. Keal stated his instructions were to be positive and if possible settle in a midfield position. He stated that after being moderately away from the wide alley the gelding was caught 3 wide in a rearward position. He further added that Mr Keal instructed him not to overly restrain the gelding and therefore he was reluctant to restrain to the rear of the field to find a position closer to the rail as he was of the opinion the gelding settled well, albeit 3 wide wit
