When questioned Jockey said instructions were to ride the gelding back in the field, as per its established racing pattern. He said after beginning awkwardly he then rode his mount along early, however maintained a position at the rear of the field. He elected to remain racing one off the rail as the gelding has a tendency to over-race. He added that near the 1200 metres he was hampered and lost further ground, and his mount travelled only fairly from that point and was under pressure from near the 600 metres. Trainer said he will discuss immediate racing program with connections.
