Apprentice T. Brooker reported her mount hung out from shortly after the start until entering the home straight, and did not travel comfortably at any stage of the event. Trainer Mr T. Sears advised the horse would now be sent for a spell. .A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Apprentice S. Eilbeck advised that the gelding travelled well, however when asked for an effort after passing the 400m proved disappointing and weakened. Trainer T. Bourke reported that veterinary tests performed on Drumbeat’s Choice subsequent to this race found the horse to be showing signs of a virus and had undergone treatment. He advised stewards he would have the results of blood tests provided prior to its next start to clear the horse to race.
